FC Bayern Munich secured the services of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown early this summer. Now the next new signing is a done deal.
In recent days, it had already become apparent that FC Bayern was making significant progress with Bara Sapoko Ndiaye, who had previously been on loan to the record champions.
Negotiations regarding the transfer fee were underway with Gambinos Stars, and the 18-year-old had already reached an agreement with Bayern. Recently, reports indicated that a full agreement had been reached.
Sapoko Ndiaye is joining FC Bayern
FC Bayern has now confirmed that the midfielder’s transfer has been finalized. Sapoko Ndiaye, who made his debut last season under Vincent Kompany and even made a surprise appearance for Senegal at the World Cup this summer, is reported by various media outlets to have cost three to four million euros. He has now signed a contract through the summer of 2031.
The youngster has signed a long-term contract and is expected to fill the role of fourth midfielder behind Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, and Tom Bischof—who is set to take on significantly greater responsibility.
Bayern officials and head coach Vincent Kompany reportedly view Bara Sapoko Ndiaye as a very promising player who has a good chance of getting regular playing time with the record champions. And if he doesn’t live up to expectations, Konrad Laimer is still in the squad and can step in to help out in midfield, his natural position.
“Bara is a great guy who has settled in very quickly at FC Bayern in a completely new environment and has rapidly earned the team’s respect. We’ve been watching him for a long time; he was captain of his team, has made impressive progress over the past 24 months, and has continued that momentum here in Munich,” explained sporting director Christoph Freund.
“Today is a very big day for me and my whole family. I want to learn from all these great players here at FC Bayern every day and try to help the team. For me, a dream has come true; I’m very happy and would also like to serve as an example for other young players, like my teammates at the Gambinos Stars,” the youngster said.
