Sacha Boey is still likely to leave FC Bayern. Despite ongoing transfer rumors, the Frenchman once again turned heads in the friendly against Aston Villa. After the match, coach Vincent Kompany had words of praise for the right back—and at the same time confirmed that a solution is being worked out.
Boey is among the players who could still leave the record champions this summer. The 24-year-old has never been able to establish himself as a regular since his move to Munich and is considered a candidate for a transfer. Nevertheless, Kompany continues to rely on the fullback during preseason—and was extremely pleased with his most recent performance against Aston Villa.
At one point, Boey caused a brief moment of concern after taking a hard hit during the game and being substituted shortly afterward. However, the Bayern coach quickly gave the all-clear afterward.
Kompany praises Boey’s attitude
Despite his impressive performances in preseason, it appears Munich still wants to sell Boey: “Sacha’s situation is clear—the club has communicated it clearly. We’re looking for a solution,” Kompany clarified.
At the same time, the Bayern coach was impressed by Boey’s attitude: “But ultimately, one of the things that impressed me was how he trained and played. He gives it his all. Of course, you expect that from a professional player. But I’ve seen many players in his situation who can’t do that. It was a positive performance on his part.“
Departure Still Likely
Officials at Säbener Straße have been searching for weeks for a suitable solution for the right back. Although Boey still has a long-term contract, he apparently no longer plays a central role in the team’s sporting plans.
Consequently, a transfer during this window is still considered a realistic scenario. There are reportedly interested parties, primarily from abroad. However, no agreement has been reached so far.
