Jamal Musiala will not be joining FC Bayern on their Asian tour. Sporting Director Max Eberl has now provided an update on the national team player’s health—and spoke candidly about his current form.
While FC Bayern sets off on Saturday for the Audi Summer Tour to South Korea and Hong Kong, Jamal Musiala will remain in Munich. The 23-year-old is set to continue working on his comeback at Säbener Straße and, following his long period of injury, will be gradually brought back to his top level.
As sporting director Max Eberl confirmed on the sidelines of the presentation of new signing Nathaniel Brown at Lake Tegernsee, Musiala will initially train individually upon his return.
Eberl believes in Musiala’s comeback
“Jamal will be available again after the tour,” Eberl explained, expressing optimism that the star forward can now finally put his injury problems behind him. In early July, the metal plate that had been inserted into Musiala’s left foot following his severe ankle injury was removed.
“Hopefully, Jamal has taken the final step with the removal of the plate,” Eberl said.
The Bayern boss also spoke about the national team player’s on-field development. After his comeback in January, Musiala was never able to return to his usual top form. The attacking player also fell short of expectations at the World Cup.
“He’s lost a bit of his lightness, even though his stats aren’t bad,” Eberl explained. “He’s missing those magical moments a bit, but we’re very confident that will come back. We’ll support him and help him get back on track. We have to get him back to his usual level,” the Bayern boss explained.

These statements show that, despite the difficult past few months, the club’s leadership is fully committed to Musiala. After the Asian tour, the national team player is set to rejoin team training and will then be gradually reintroduced to competitive action.
In addition to Musiala, Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl, and summer signing Ismael Saibari will also not be participating in the Asian tour. There is also still a question mark regarding whether Alphonso Davies will play.
