Raphael Guerreiro’s contract with FC Bayern expired this summer. The versatile player has been a free agent ever since and has not yet signed a new contract with another club.
There have been several rumors. Among others, Benfica had inquired about him and had at least had some vague discussions with him. There was also contact with Bayer Leverkusen regarding the departure of Alejandro Grimaldo. However, neither option ultimately materialized.
Now, a new option appears to have emerged. According to Calciomercato , AC Milan of Italy has expressed interest.
Milan is looking into Guerreiro
In Milan, new coach Ruben Amorim recently took over his new position. Together with the club’s management, he is tasked with putting together a strong squad.
As a free agent, Guerreiro fits very well into Milan’s plans. The Portuguese player didn’t command a huge salary at Bayern Munich, and he won’t have the highest demands at Milan either should intensive negotiations take place.
Since the Rossoneri missed out on qualifying for the UEFA Champions League last season, they need to save a bit, and deals like this fit perfectly into that plan.
However, a decision has not yet been made. The player wants to take his time and focus on making the right decision—not necessarily the quickest one.
The player wore the jersey of Germany’s record champion for a total of three years. Prior to that, Guerreiro played for BVB for seven years. He can play as a left back, but also fill a role in central midfield and on the wing in an attacking capacity. That makes him, when he’s fit, a very valuable addition—not just for Milan, but for numerous clubs.
