FC Bayern has already secured its top transfer targets early on with Nathaniel Brown and Ismael Saibari. If sporting director Christoph Freund has his way, the record champions are unlikely to present any major surprises on the transfer front this summer.
During the friendly match against SV Wehen Wiesbaden (1–2), Christoph Freund sent a clear signal regarding FC Bayern’s future transfer plans. In an interview with FC Bayern TV, the sporting director made it clear that the club’s leadership is largely satisfied with the current roster.
“We’re actually very far along. We don’t want to have too large a squad this year either; we want quality and, above all, hopefully plenty of available players throughout the season,” Freund explained regarding the Munich club’s approach.
Freund believes Bayern is well-positioned
The 49-year-old put the brakes on new signings in particular. “Not much more will happen there. We’re really, really happy with where we are and—I believe—well-positioned.”
These statements align with the latest developments at Säbener Straße. With Brown and Ismael Saibari, Bayern has already signed its two most important transfer targets. Further reinforcements were recently considered possible only if corresponding revenue was first generated through player sales.
Among the players on the chopping block are Joao Palhinha, Sacha Boey, Bryan Zaragoza, and Armindo Sieb. Only if there is further movement on the outgoing side could there theoretically be some leeway again. However, Freund’s statements suggest that the Munich club currently sees no urgent need for further signings.

Honorary President Uli Hoeneß is also said to have recently urged the club internally to focus on sales in order to maintain a healthy financial balance. Freund’s statements underscore this strategy. FC Bayern wants to deliberately keep the roster lean and is prioritizing quality over quantity.
Unless an exceptional opportunity arises on the transfer market, the Munich club is therefore likely to focus primarily on player departures in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
After the game, Freund also addressed the persistent rumors surrounding Michael Olise’s possible departure to Real Madrid: “ That’s not an issue for us at all. We’re looking forward to Michael coming back from vacation. He’ll play an important role at FC Bayern this season —just as he did last year,” said the Austrian.
