FC Bayern is determined to keep Michael Olise—and now appears to be getting a boost from Madrid. That’s because doubts are apparently growing internally at Real Madrid about whether a summer transfer of the French player is even feasible.
For weeks, Olise has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. But the club itself no longer seems to firmly believe a deal is possible. As The Athletic reports, citing sources with close ties to the club, Real considers a signing this summer to be highly unlikely.
Specifically, the report states that the top Spanish club has made it clear “that signing the French international from FC Bayern this summer is not considered feasible.” Real may have to postpone its plans regarding Olise for the future.
This is good news for the German record champions. The situation at Säbener Straße remains unchanged anyway: FC Bayern does not want to let Olise, whose contract runs through 2029, go. The player himself has not yet made any public statements regarding the rumors. As early as June, Real had denied having made contact with Olise or his representatives.
Matthäus expects Olise to stay
Lothar Matthäus also recently appeared completely unfazed. “I’m taking this in stride, ” wrote the 1990 World Cup champion in his column for Sky. “Uli Hoeneß already took a clear stance a few weeks ago and stated that the player is staying at Bayern and that Real Madrid can save themselves the trouble of calling. Olise has a contract in Munich, and Bayern doesn’t want to sell him,” Matthäus explained.
Instead of considering a sale, the Munich club is apparently moving in the opposite direction. The club is reportedly planning an early contract extension. Olise could rise to become one of the top earners at Säbener Straße.
Since his transfer from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024—the transfer fee was reportedly around 53 million euros—the left-footed player has developed into one of the team’s most important offensive players. In 107 competitive matches, the 24-year-old has been involved in 96 goals, including 42 goals and 54 assists. This has significantly driven up his market value.
