FC Bayern is working hard to extend Michael Olise’s contract. For BILD soccer editor Christian Falk, that is precisely the decisive factor—because by next summer at the latest, the pressure on the Munich club could increase significantly.
Michael Olise remains one of the major issues for the future at FC Bayern. Although club officials have made it clear on several recent occasions that the French national team player is not for sale this summer, the contract issue is increasingly coming into focus.
BILD’s head of soccer, Christian Falk, currently views the situation as relaxed. In his opinion, a move to Real Madrid is out of the question this transfer window: “I think Real Madrid has just as much chance of signing Michael Olise this summer as they do of signing Erling Haaland! I’m glad they realize there’s no chance of signing the Frenchman this summer, and if they turn their attention away from him, they’re welcome to try with Haaland. However, I expect the answer will be the same. This summer: no chance.”
Olise’s contract could become an issue in 2027
For Bayern, however, the matter doesn’t end there. Falk sees next summer as a potential turning point—especially if Olise doesn’t extend his contract, which runs through 2029, ahead of schedule.
He issued a clear warning: “Next summer, in my opinion, it will be very interesting to see what happens with Olise—whether he signs a new contract or not. If not, Bayern Munich will have to take action. Maybe they’ll have to sell him.”
The Munich club wants to prevent exactly this scenario. According to information from BILD, club officials are already working on a contract extension with significantly improved terms. Under this deal, Olise could rise to become one of the club’s top earners and enter a salary bracket alongside Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala.
Falk also sees another factor that currently works in Bayern’s favor: “But this summer, Michael Olise will stay with FC Bayern Munich. Maybe that’s to his advantage, because he was in really, really good form this season, but he had only an average performance at the World Cup. Perhaps the situation will calm down a bit, because in the semifinal against Spain, he could have proven his elite status in soccer but failed to do so. Maybe the winger now realizes he still has a lot to learn before reaching the absolute peak of his performance. Apparently, the rumors have died down, and it’s easier for FC Bayern to keep Olise now that he isn’t a World Cup champion.”
