FC Bayern is being linked to the next big name on the transfer market. According to recent reports, the Munich club is monitoring the situation surrounding Chelsea star Enzo Fernández—but a potential transfer would come at a hefty financial cost.
Following the signings of Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown, FC Bayern does not appear to have fully concluded its transfer plans yet. Although the Munich club has already invested more than 100 million euros, the name Enzo Fernández is now being mentioned at Säbener Straße.
As transfer insider Ekrem Konur reports, Bayern is considering entering the race for the Argentine national team player.
Bayern is monitoring the situation
Fernández is under contract with Chelsea FC through 2032 and is one of the Blues’ most important players. Nevertheless, talkSPORT recently reported that the 2022 World Cup champion is said to be considering his future due to the team’s failure to qualify for European competition.
According to the report, the London club would in principle be open to talks—but only for a transfer fee of around 140 million euros.
In addition to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid has also recently been linked to the central midfielder. However, the club is said to have publicly denied any interest.
Transfer unlikely
From Bayern’s perspective, however, such a transfer seems unlikely at this time.
With the signings of Saibari and Brown, the Munich club has already spent heavily. Furthermore, strengthening other positions is currently considered a higher priority. Even though Leon Goretzka’s departure has created some room in the midfield, an investment on the order of 140 million euros would be an extraordinary move.
Furthermore, there are no indications of concrete negotiations so far. According to information from Konur, Bayern is currently merely monitoring the Argentine’s situation.
One thing is clear, however: If Fernández does indeed leave Chelsea FC, a transfer battle among several top European clubs is likely to ensue. Whether Bayern Munich will ultimately play a serious role in this remains to be seen.
