Jamal Musiala is on his way back to his usual form; he wants to continue improving ahead of the 2026 World Cup and gradually regain his rhythm. That would be important not only for the national team but also for FC Bayern—both in the short and long term.
The record-holding champion’s attacking player has now come through a year since his serious injury in the Club World Cup match against PSG. It was a year marked by many problems, a long period of suffering, and, subsequently, a series of minor injuries.
Musiala definitely has it in the back of his mind that he wants to become the player he was before his injury again—a constant source of trouble and a creative force. Right now, he’s showing the absolute determination to get back there, but he’s still missing that final few percentage points.
Before his serious injury, quite a few people believed the attacking player had the potential to even become a future Ballon d’Or candidate. These days, players like Harry Kane or Michael Olise of FC Bayern are more often mentioned in that context.
Musiala Talks About the Ballon d’Or
In an interview with SportBILD, Musiala spoke, among other things, about his personal goals, but also about the big-name Ballon d’Or, which, despite everything, continues to play a role in the back of many soccer players’ minds.
“I don’t really want to talk about such a major award right now. If it happens, it’ll happen eventually. And the team always comes first. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to bring out the best in myself. That’s what I push myself for every day,” said Musiala.

He’s learned a valuable lesson recently: “But what I’ve learned in the meantime is to stay patient. I know that, especially after my injury, I have to be patient. But I also know that I have the quality to achieve the high goals I’ve set for myself.”
Just a few days ago, the Bayern player announced that he had matured significantly over the past year and learned a great deal.
Perhaps this will now help him become even better and more mature in the future.
