Alexander Nübel’s future remains one of the most intriguing personnel issues at FC Bayern. Now there’s another club interested in the goalkeeper—and this one seems to be particularly serious about it.
Following his return from his loan stint at VfB Stuttgart, Alexander Nübel still has no realistic prospect of securing a starting spot at FC Bayern. With Manuel Neuer and Jonas Urbig ahead of him, the competition would be fierce, which is why the Munich club is generally open to considering a sale of the 29-year-old.
Now, there appears to be movement on this front. As Sky reports, Besiktas Istanbul is currently considered the leading contender for the German goalkeeper. The historic Turkish club is looking for a new number one for the upcoming season and has placed Nübel at the top of its wish list.
According to the report, talks have already taken place between Besiktas, the player’s representatives, and FC Bayern. The Munich club is generally open to discussions but has clear expectations regarding a potential transfer fee.
Beşiktaş is interested—Nübel is still hesitating
According to Sky, FC Bayern’s asking price is well above the ten-million-euro mark. This puts the Munich club’s asking price in a similar range to what other interested parties have recently offered.
In recent weeks, Nübel has already been linked with Juventus and Manchester City. Juventus, in particular, is said to be continuing to closely monitor the goalkeeper after efforts to sign Liverpool’s Alisson proved difficult.
From Bayern’s perspective, a sale would make perfect sense. Nübel is one of the higher-paid players on the roster and, despite his strong performances in Stuttgart, has no long-term prospects as the starting goalkeeper in Munich.
However, a move to Istanbul is by no means a done deal at this point. According to Sky, Nübel is not currently prioritizing a transfer to Besiktas. The goalkeeper is considering several options and wants to make his decision only once all the conditions are right.
This means the situation remains up in the air. Interest from Turkey is concrete, and Besiktas is already working intensively to sign the Bayern goalkeeper.
For Munich, this could present another opportunity to remove a player from the payroll while simultaneously earning a transfer fee in the double-digit millions. Whether Nübel takes this path is likely to be decided in the coming weeks.
