FC Bayern Munich continues to move forward with its plans for the upcoming season and for the future in general. A contract extension has now been announced.
As officially confirmed today, Tuesday, Jannis Bärtl, goalkeeper for FC Bayern’s second team, has extended his contract with the record-breaking champions.
With the exception of a two-year loan to Karlsruher SC, the amateur goalkeeper has spent his entire career in the youth system of the German record champions, making him a true homegrown talent.
Bärtl stays with FC Bayern
“With the exception of his time at KSC, Jannis has received his entire goalkeeper training at FC Bayern. He is therefore a true homegrown talent. Last season, he delivered consistent performances with the amateurs and has recently been a regular in the pros’ training sessions. We are pleased with his development and are happy that he wants to take the next steps with us,“ says Michael Wiesinger, head of the youth department at the record champions.
The goalkeeper himself also spoke in the press release. “I’ve been allowed to wear the FC Bayern jersey since I was eight years old. Last season, with the DFB Cup victory, the many experiences with the pros, and the numerous appearances with the amateurs, was something very special for me,” said Bärtl.
He continued: „That makes me all the happier about the decision to extend my contract with FC Bayern, and I look forward to continuing our journey together.“
Last season, Bärtl played 20 games in the Regionalliga for the second team. He kept a clean sheet six times. He also took part in the first-team’s training sessions on several occasions and was named to the squad four times. One such instance was the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart, in which FC Bayern prevailed 3-0.
