The Olise story initially seemed to have been exposed as a big misunderstanding, but apparently it wasn’t. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now revealed new details that show that Real Madrid had indeed thought hard about making a move for Olise
„I can absolutely guarantee that Florentino Pérez’s intention was to bring in Michael Olise, and this has also been confirmed by people at Real Madrid,“ Romano explained
According to this, the French international was Madrid’s preferred solution for the right side of the attack. Those responsible in Madrid are said to have studied the Bayern star intensively and were convinced internally that Olise would fit perfectly into the new system
Bayern made any negotiations impossible
So why did an official offer never materialize?
Romano also provides the answer: „Bayern slammed the door shut completely, both privately and publicly, and didn’t want to enter into any negotiations. Real Madrid then started to look at other options and decided to go for Julián Álvarez.“
This was precisely the stance that Munich’s management had taken publicly on several occasions in recent weeks
President Herbert Hainer made it clear that Real Madrid could save themselves an offer, while Uli Hoeneß went even further and repeatedly stated that Olise was not for sale, regardless of the amount
The club management’s statements were clearly not a negotiating tactic, but reflected the actual position
Internally, Olise is regarded as one of the most important building blocks for the coming years, with the Frenchman developing into a difference-maker at the German record champions within a very short space of time following his move from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024
Accordingly, there is no interest in Munich in thinking about selling him
Instead, Bayern are aiming to extend his contract, which runs until 2029, on a long-term basis and make Olise one of the faces of the club in the long term.
