Nicolas Jackson was unable to establish himself as Harry Kane’s backup at FC Bayern, but now an interesting option has opened up for the Senegalese
Over the past few weeks, there have been many indications that Nicolas Jackson would be leaving Chelsea FC for good. The attacker, who was loaned out to FC Bayern for the 2025/26 season, will not be staying in Munich as things stand. However, a surprising turn of events could now be in the offing
According to reports in the Daily Mail, Chelsea are planning to give Jackson another chance under new manager Xabi Alonso, with the 24-year-old being allowed to recommend himself for a place in next season’s squad during preparations
According to the report, Jackson continues to enjoy a „high reputation“ within the club and his move to Munich in 2025 is said to have been mainly due to a falling out with former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca
This could open a door for Jackson that seemed to have been closed recently. Instead of selling in the upcoming transfer window, staying with the Premier League club is now apparently a realistic option again
Jackson is open to staying at Chelsea
According to the Daily Mail , Jackson himself is not averse to staying in London, but the prerequisite is clear: the Senegalese international wants to play regularly
And that could be the biggest challenge. Chelsea are well-stocked in the center of attack, with Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Emmanuel Emegha joining Jackson in the squad as high-quality options for the center forward position
However, Jackson has the advantage that he cannot be deployed exclusively as a classic striker. The 24-year-old is also an option on the wings or behind a central striker. This versatility could benefit him under Alonso
The fact that there are already reportedly inquiries from the Premier League for Jackson should put the Blues under additional pressure. Should the attacker not see any sporting prospects, a move within England would still be conceivable
Bayern will not take up the option to buy
Last season, Jackson made a decent impression at FC Bayern, bringing pace, depth and a physical presence to Munich’s attacking play as a substitute
In 34 competitive matches for the German record champions, Jackson scored eleven goals and set up a further four goals – a solid record for a loan player who was not usually first choice
In the end, however, it was not enough to sign him permanently. Bayern decided against exercising the high purchase option of 65 million euros. Jackson’s influence on the Munich game was not constant enough for that
The Bayern chapter thus ends after just one season. His contract with Chelsea FC runs until 2033. If Alonso does indeed opt for him, Jackson’s future could suddenly be back at Stamford Bridge.
