The story sounds almost too strange to be true – and yet it could become reality. While PSG superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is set to face FC Bayern in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday, his younger brother Tornike could be in talks with the Munich club at the same time
This would complete a circle that began years ago at FC Bayern’s campus – and remained unfinished at the time
As reported by the Georgian branch of the renowned Gazzetta dello Sport, FC Bayern is interested in Tornike Kvaratskhelia. The 16-year-old is considered a great talent, currently plays for the second team of Dinamo Tbilisi and is already the focus of several European clubs
What is particularly interesting is that the attacking player is reportedly already in Munich to meet with the club’s management, meaning that concrete talks could follow soon
In sporting terms, Tornike has a similar profile to his famous brother: he is also at home on the left wing, looks for one-on-one situations and impresses with his pace and creativity
The missed opportunity with Khvicha
However, the connection between Bayern and the Kvaratskhelia family goes back much further. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia completed a trial at the German record champions‘ campus back in 2018
Back then, the now 25-year-old made a strong impression both on a sporting and personal level, but the signing never materialized – apparently also because the issue was not pursued consistently internally
A decision that, from today’s perspective, looks like a missed opportunity
From trial training to world star

Kvaratskhelia developed rapidly in the years that followed, with spells in Russia and Georgia leading him to SSC Napoli, where he rose to superstar status and became Italian champion
in 2025, he moved to Paris Saint-Germain for around 80 million euros and is now one of the best attacking players in the world. He underlined this impressively with a brace in the 5:4 first leg against FC Bayern
The current development surrounding his brother is therefore almost like a second chance for the Munich side
Tornike is still at the beginning of his career, but that is precisely the attraction for FC Bayern, who are increasingly focusing on signing top talents early on before their market value explodes
It remains to be seen whether a transfer will actually take place in the end, but one thing is clear: Bayern are keeping a close eye on the developments surrounding the Kvaratskhelia family
And perhaps this time they will succeed in doing what they missed out on a few years ago – bringing a Georgian talent to Munich early on, before he matures into a world-class player.
