Because Real no longer want him? Davies can imagine a Bayern extension

Alphonso Davies

After it seemed in recent months that Alphonso Davies‘ transfer to Real Madrid was a done deal, there are now increasing signs that the move to the Whites will ultimately fall through. After repeatedly postponing talks with the German record champions in recent months, the Canadian is now said to be able to envisage extending his contract with the Munich club.

As Christian Falk and Tobias Altschäffl report in their podcast „Bayern-Insider“, Davies could actually imagine staying with the Munich club for the next few years. One of the reasons for this is that Real Madrid are currently showing no signs of making any further efforts to sign the Canadian.

According to the player, staying with the German record champions is definitely an attractive option for the 23-year-old. However, in order to remain with the Munich club in the long term, Davies will have to significantly adjust his salary demands. Due to the fluctuating performances in the current season, the Bayern bosses are unlikely to make the Canadian his desired concessions.

Real Madrid distance themselves from signing Davies

In recent contract negotiations with Davies, his salary demand was a sticking point. The player’s side demanded a hefty €20 million per year, while the club offered him far less. In recent months at least, however, there are said to have been no significant rapprochement between the two parties regarding the salary. If a suitable offer came along, the club would let its left-back go.

With Real Madrid, however, the hottest lead for a possible Davies departure has cooled. According to reports, those responsible at the Whites could only envisage a transfer on a free transfer in the summer of 2025. The German record champions are unlikely to allow the 23-year-old’s contract to expire, meaning a decision on the Canadian’s future is due next summer.
