The bitter elimination in the semi-finals of the Champions League sealed FC Bayern’s first title-less season in 12 years. Dietmar Hamann gave his opinion on the current situation at the record champions in his Sky column.

The first title of the season was lost in November when FC Bayern was surprisingly eliminated in the DFB Cup against Saarbrücken. For Dietmar Hamann, „it was disappointing to be knocked out so early against a third division team.“

However, the TV pundit is less disappointed with the Bundesliga campaign. Because, as he explained in his Sky column, it’s incredibly difficult in the league to be at the top after 34 matchdays when you’re up against a team that wins almost everything all year.

The German record champions also „sold very well“ in the Champions League Overall, for Hamann, „it’s not a disaster to have a title-less season.“

Nevertheless, it is also „not a harmless situation“ in view of the fact that a new coach has not yet been found for the new season and a „mini reorganisation in the summer“ is imminent.

Hamann: „Very interesting summer“

Even if Hamann describes the current situation at the Isar as a „turbulent phase“, he notes that „we know that Bayern are always at their most dangerous when they are struggling.“

According to the former Bayern and Liverpool star, it could be a „very interesting summer“ at Säbener Straße „given that we still don’t have a coach in mid-May“. In his opinion, there should be „quick movement“ in the coming days and weeks.

However, Hamann did not reveal which candidate would be the best option for him. According to consistent media reports, the trail currently leads to an old acquaintance: Hansi Flick has apparently already been discussed at Säbener Straße and is said to be willing to talk.
