FC Bayern would like to fundamentally rebuild its squad in the summer. Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona is also rumoured to be on the Munich club’s transfer list. The Dutchman has been rumoured to be on the German record champions‘ radar for some time. However, not everyone in Munich is convinced by De Jong.

While Thomas Tuchel and his team are working on reaching the Champions League final, Max Eberl and Co. are preparing to rebuild their squad in the summer. One name rumoured to be on the transfer list is Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona.

The midfielder was already a Bayern candidate before his move to the Catalans in 2019, but Barça won the deal five years ago for a whopping €86 million.

Reports have recently been circulating that Bayern could make another attempt next summer. According to these reports, De Jong is still on the Isar’s radar. However, the Dutch international is not a „top candidate“, as reported by BILD.

Bayern not going full throttle with De Jong

According to BILD, the name De Jong has been discussed internally at FCB, but those responsible do not see the Dutchman as a real six-man. He is more at home in central midfield, but Bayern don’t really have a need there. De Jong is „not being approached at full throttle“ by Bayern, reports BILD.

De Jong still has a contract with FC Barcelona until 2026. Nevertheless, the Catalans would be prepared to let the midfield all-rounder leave early in the summer if they receive an attractive transfer fee in the region of 70-80 million euros.
