Leon Goretzka’s ever-improving performances of late have secured him a regular place at FC Bayern. However, whether he will also get it with the German national team is still highly questionable. He has now spoken about his potential role at the home European Championships.
Goretzka’s improved performance in recent weeks has led to the question of whether he deserves a place in Julian Nagelsmann’s European Championship squad. In an interview with Sky, the 29-year-old responded to the accusations that he was not prepared to accept a reserve role: „To be honest, I don’t think that’s Julian’s thinking. Because even during my time at Bayern under him, I showed that I have no problem with that and am always ready to help the team from anywhere.“
For him, there was no question that he would accept any role that was assigned to him. The midfielder would prefer to communicate his willingness to take on any conceivable task in the national team jersey to the national team coach in person. He is ready for a conversation, but also noted that such a dialogue always requires two parties.
DFB midfield is fiercely contested
Even if Goretzka now sees it as his task to „recommend himself through performance“, it could still be difficult for him to secure a place in the European Championship squad. With returnee Toni Kroos and captain İlkay Gündoğan, the double-six is already world-class and should Gündoğan, as in the past two test matches, line up one position further forward, the vacant position in defensive midfield will most likely be filled by Robert Andrich, who is having a tremendous season at Leverkusen.
Da hat er schlechte Karten gegen Kroos und Gündogan.
Besser als Gündogan ist er alle male.
Zumindest weiß mittlerweile jeder, dass die Kombi Gündogan/Kroos auf DM toxisch ist.

Goretzka ist wie kürzlich vielfach bewiesen ( siehe Arsenal-Spiele ) einfach ein verdammt guter Kicker, wenn man ihm Vertrauen schenkt.
Und gegen Real hat er gezeigt wie schlecht er sein kann.
Goretzka war gegen Real in keinster Weise schlecht Du Ahnungsloser.
Kannst Dir gerne auch seine Benotung in der Fachpresse dazu anschauen, denn mit Deinem Fussballverstand ist es jedenfalls nicht allzu weit her…

Ist im Vergleich zu Dir offenbar ja nicht allzu schwierig. Davon ab habe ich wohl das Spiel gesehen, während Du nur irgendwelche Plattitüden nachpalavert hast.

Er wird halt gerne mal als Sündenbock hergekommen. Fand ihn bis zum Gegentor ebenfalls stark. Danach waren alle schlecht. Keiner wusste wie man sich Chancen raus spielen soll. Leon musste dann den Spielmacher im Zentrum geben, das ist nicht seine Stärke, da kann er nur schlecht aussehen. Daher wurde er ja auch gg Rapha getauscht.

Alter der steckt aber schon tief drin.
Wie manche schon wieder seine Aussage kritisieren. Er wurde gefragt. Soll er sagen nee ich bin eh schon raus. Julian hat doch selbst betont, dass die Tür nicht zu ist, auch wenn die Chance evtl gering ist. Es machen sich doch alle noch Hoffnungen auf einen Kaderplatz was auch verständlich ist v.a. wenn sie aktuell gut drauf sind. Und ich finde es gut, dass er die Unterstellung er könne sich nicht unterordnen richtig stellt!
