After two league defeats in a row, FC Bayern are in a crisis mood. Munich’s self-confidence is practically non-existent ahead of the important Champions League match against Arsenal FC. Original Bayern player Thomas Müller has spoken out ahead of the away game against the Gunners and called on Munich’s fighting spirit.

Bayern actually wanted to gain the necessary self-confidence for the Champions League clash against FC Arsenal with victories against Dortmund and Heidenheim. The exact opposite happened. Thomas Tuchel and his team travelled to the Emirates Stadium with two defeats in their luggage.

FCB fans are sceptical about the clash against the Premier League leaders and Thomas Müller also makes no secret of the fact that the starting position looks anything but good: „Two days before the game against Arsenal, it’s honestly a difficult moment for us. After two defeats in the Bundesliga, our confidence is pretty low,“ he wrote on Instagram.

„We should use this situation as an opportunity“

However, the 34-year-old has experienced a lot in football over the past 15 years and made it clear that Bayern are not prepared to give up on the season without a fight: „We should use this situation as an opportunity to spring a surprise on the big stage against the Gunners. This is not the time to give up. Let’s go lads!“, said Müller, calling on the German record champions to show their fighting spirit.

It will be exciting to see whether Bayern can show a different face in the Champions League than they did recently in the Bundesliga. One thing is clear: if Munich put on the same performance against Arsenal as they did against BVB and Heidenheim, the quarter-final first leg could end in disaster.

While Bayern are in crisis, the Gunners have been in top form in recent weeks. Mikel Arteta’s team have only lost one of their last games and are currently top of the EPL. Last weekend, they celebrated a commanding 3-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion.
