It’s no longer a secret that Real Madrid are working on signing Bayern left-back Alphonso Davies. Now the Madrilenians are apparently making a new attempt – with an unusual offer.

Real Madrid are apparently considering offering Bayern Ferland Mendy and Rafa Marín in exchange for Alphonso Davies. Mendy is the regular left-back at Madrid and is valued at €20 million, but he is already 28 years old and only has a contract with the Whites until 2025. According to information from the El Nacional portal, the Frenchman would only act as a backup in the event of a Davies transfer to Madrid.

Rafa Marín is much younger at the age of 21 and plays in the centre-back position, although not at Madrid itself, but at Deportivo Alavés, where he is on loan this season. His current market value is around five million euros. In total, the Davies signing would be worth around 25 million euros to Real.

Davies sale gets closer

The sale of Alphonso Davies is becoming increasingly likely, at least since he and his advisor let the ultimatum from Bayern bosses pass. Davies‘ advisor Nick Huoseh justified the move with the importance of the contract for his client’s future and the fact that the coaching situation for the coming season remains unresolved.

According to Davies‘ advisor, a final decision will not be made until the end of the season. The club is aware of this, but the 23-year-old should not expect any further room for negotiation at the end of the season, if the contract offer is still valid at all by then.

FC Bayern are no longer averse to letting the Canadian go. However, the transfer fee in particular is still causing headaches at Säbener Straße. While FCB is demanding 50 million euros, Real Madrid’s expectations are in the region of 25 to 30 million euros. The financial framework would therefore not change much even with the possible exchange offer.
