Roberto De Zerbi is currently considered the favourite for the coaching job at FC Bayern. Max Eberl in particular is said to be in favour of signing the Italian. Now the Brighton coach has once again spoken out about his future.

Following the cancellation of preferred coach Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi of Brighton & Hove Albion is considered the most promising candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel.

De Zerbi has been doing an outstanding job at the Seagulls for years and is said to be highly favoured by Max Eberl in particular. According to recent media reports, the Bayern bosses have already made contact.

Talks about the future are imminent

Before his team’s game against Liverpool FC last Sunday, De Zerbi opened the door to a possible departure. He stated that an extension at Brighton was „not planned at the moment“.
De Zerbi also made his future decision dependent on the ambitions of his current club: „I will talk to Tony Bloom about the plans for next season and then I will decide. I want to keep my ambition.“

De Zerbi emphasised that he „lives for football 24 hours a day and wants to know what the plan, the project and the future is. If I don’t feel the right motivation, then I can no longer stay here.“

The 44-year-old’s contract at Brighton runs until 2026, but thanks to a release clause, he will be able to leave the club next summer for €14 million.
