Manuel Neuer has returned from the German national team injured. FC Bayern now want to do everything they can to get the goalkeeper fit for the game against Borussia Dortmund.

It’s a race against time for FC Bayern’s Manuel Neuer! The national goalkeeper suffered a slight muscle fibre tear in his left adductor muscle while playing for the DFB team. The 37-year-old had to return from the national team after just three days.

Today, Neuer was already back at Säbener Straße in Munich and, according to BILD, received intensive treatment from FC Bayern’s physios.

According to the report, the normal downtime for an injury like Neuer’s is two weeks. However, the home game against Borussia Dortmund is just nine days away. Both Neuer himself and Bayern want to do everything they can to ensure that the keeper can be in goal against BVB on 30 March.

Nagelsmann: „Not my construction site“

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann said of Neuer’s injury: „It’s very annoying because he made a very good impression, but unfortunately suffered this fibre tear during an action. He’s out for the next two games against France and the Netherlands, maybe Bayern against Dortmund – but that’s not my problem.“

However, the Bundesliga classic against BVB is very important for Bayern and Neuer. That’s why they will continue their rehab with full vigour over the next few days. But time is extremely short. According to BILD, however, due to Neuer’s great capacity for suffering, it is hoped that he might still be able to play.

After breaking his tibia and fibula in December 2022 in a skiing accident after the World Cup in Qatar, many thought the injury could mean the end of Neuer’s career. However, the Bayern captain quickly regained his former strength after his comeback and has been a great support for FCB ever since.
