The German national team faces two real endurance tests during the upcoming international break before the long-awaited European Championship takes place at home in the summer. National coach Julian Nagelsmann is said to have already decided on his preferred team for the tournament. It has now been revealed that only three FC Bayern players are a permanent part of Nagelsmann’s squad.

According to kicker, Julian Nagelsmann’s plans for his starting eleven are already well advanced. The DFB coach already has a concrete squad in mind for the European Championship. The stars of the German record champions will only be used in part and – compared to the past – will lose influence in the national team.

Unsurprisingly, Nagelsmann will be relying on Bayern captain Manuel Neuer in goal. The 37-year-old has been in top form for months and, according to kicker, will be preferred to Marc Andre Ter-Stegen, who has been struggling with injury concerns recently.

Kimmich and Musiala set to start

In defence, another Bayern star is set to be part of the squad. Joshua Kimmich will therefore occupy the right-back position, as Nagelsmann himself recently confirmed. Maximilian Mittelstädt at left-back and Antonio Rüdiger and Jonathan Tah in the centre of defence are also set to play.

Neither Leon Goretzka nor Aleksandar Pavlovic are likely to be regulars in midfield. The national team coach is planning on returning Toni Kroos, with either Robert Andrich or Pascal Groß starting alongside him.

In attack, DFB captain Ilkay Gündogan will occupy the number eight position, while the two jewels Jamal Musial and Florian Wirtz will be deployed in front of him. Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Müller are not listed as starters by kicker. Meanwhile, the striker position for the European Championship is still open.
