In less than 90 days, the ball will be rolling at the European Football Championship. After the sobering end to the year against Turkey and Austria, Julian Nagelsmann wants to rekindle the euphoria of the European Championship in Germany with fresh personnel in March. According to the latest reports, two youngsters are playing a key role in the national coach’s plans.

The starting signal for the final European Championship preparations will be given next Saturday. The test match against World Cup runners-up France in Lyon will be a real acid test for the German national team. Three days later, the DFB team will face the Netherlands in Frankfurt.

Julian Nagelsmann has already sent out a clear signal with his squad nomination last week. The 36-year-old has called up numerous new faces to the national team and at the same time dispensed with several established players such as Leon Goretzka and Emre Can. As reported by tz, Nagelsmann is already finalising a concrete European Championship plan.

Nagelsmann favours more „working players“

According to tz, Nagelsmann is planning to build his team for Euro 2024 around Bayern youngster Jamal Musiala and Leverkusen professional Florian Wirtz. According to the report, the head coach of the DFB squad wants to field more „work players“ to support the creative duo.

According to tz, Nagelsmann plans to play Wirtz and Musiala on the right and left half-spaces, where they can move centrally, combine in tight spaces thanks to their passing quality and also get into scoring positions.

Wirtz is having a tremendous season. The 20-year-old has scored 28 goals in 36 appearances and is therefore playing a key role in Leverkusen’s continued rise to the top, as they remain on course for the title in all three competitions.

Musiala’s record (19 scorer points in 31 games) is also impressive. The 21-year-old’s form has been on a steep upward curve, especially in recent weeks. Musiala has scored nine goals in his last five Bundesliga games for Bayern.
