Mathys Tel has become an absolute crowd favourite at FC Bayern Munich this season and has impressed across the board in his wildcard role. The youngster once again came off the bench against SV Darmstadt and was rewarded with a goal in stoppage time. With this goal, Tel broke a Bundesliga record.

Mathys Tel has now been under contract with the German record champions for a year and a half. The young Frenchman has now scored his tenth Bundesliga goal against Darmstadt. With his goal to make it 5:1, the youngster set a new Bundesliga record. Tel reached the 10-goal mark at the age of 18 years, ten months and 18 days. According to the data service provider Opta, no foreign player in the entire history of the Bundesliga has ever achieved this.

The youngster is regarded as an integral part of the German record champions‘ future. This season, the U21 international has already scored eight goals in all competitions, five of them in the Bundesliga, although Tel has hardly been allowed to start under Bayern coach Tuchel. So it’s no wonder that the Bayern management extended the contract with the attacking talent until 2029 at an early stage.

Mathys Tel: „Munich is home for me“

Mathys Tel also wants to work with Munich for as long as possible and the youngster wants to become a legend at the German record champions.

„This contract extension means a lot to me. I’ve already learnt a lot at FC Bayern – on and off the pitch. Munich has become a home for me and my family, and the fans are also very important to me: I can’t be the player I am without them,“ explained the youngster after his contract extension.
