Now it’s official: it had previously been rumoured, but now it’s clear that Aleksandar Pavlovic will be called up by Julian Nagelsmann to the DFB squad for the upcoming international matches. As a result, Pavlovic has decided in favour of a career with the DFB. The 19-year-old now has his own opinion on why.

„I’m delighted to have been nominated for the German senior national team. My plan was not to decide between Germany and Serbia until after this year’s European Championships. I had to make this decision immediately,“ said the FC Bayern midfielder when asked by BILD.

FCB’s shooting star could now make his debut for the German national team on 23 and 26 March, when the international matches against France and the Netherlands are scheduled. Born in Munich, he has both German and Serbian citizenship.

„I would like to expressly thank the Serbian association, who have also done a lot for me. Both hearts beat in my chest, my mother is German and my father is Serbian,“ explained Pavlovic: „That’s why my decision is not against the Serbian national team, but in favour of the German team. I was born and raised in Munich, have spent my entire footballing career at FC Bayern and am looking forward to the upcoming international matches with Germany,“ he continued.

It is the continuation of a journey that had recently been foreshadowed. After initially being called up by Thomas Tuchel as a substitute in the starting eleven, Pavlovic has increasingly come to the fore with good performances.

Partly due to his appealing performances, Joshua Kimmich is currently playing at right-back, while Pavlovic is increasingly playing alongside Goretzka in the FCB midfield.

the player has already made 12 appearances in the Bundesliga and two in the Champions League and has played his part in Munich’s success in the league with two goals and two assists. In the past, the Munich player has already made two appearances for Germany’s U-20 team.
