At FC Bayern, the signs are pointing to change. It is already clear that there will be a new coach on the sidelines from the summer. But there are also signs of some changes in the squad.

Max Eberl has a lot on his plate in his new role as FC Bayern’s sporting director. In addition to the search for a new coach, Eberl’s to-do list also includes important contract negotiations with several star players.

The contracts of Alphonso Davies, Leroy Sané and Joshua Kimmich expire in the summer of 2025. As the Bayern bosses do not want to lose any of these players on a free transfer, the future of the three top stars should be clarified before the upcoming summer transfer window.

Kimmich is going through a difficult phase at FC Bayern

Joshua Kimmich was long regarded as a mainstay of the German record champions. Former chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge once even labelled him the captain of the future. However, the 29-year-old’s status has been severely undermined in recent months.

Kimmich has repeatedly been at the centre of criticism due to poor performances. At the same time, Thomas Tuchel repeatedly called for the signing of a new defensive midfielder. In addition, the coach often substituted Kimmich prematurely. During the match against Bochum, this even led to an argument between Kimmich and assistant coach Zsolt Löw.

A fresh start in the Premier League?

Fittingly, the British newspaper Express reports that Kimmich is currently anything but happy in Munich. In particular, his relationship with Tuchel is said to be extremely strained.

And although the 50-year-old will leave Bayern in the summer, Kimmich is said to be toying with the idea of leaving Munich. In recent months, there have been more and more rumours that the central midfielder feels he has a big transfer coming up in his career.

Until now, PSG and Barcelona have been the main potential suitors. But now, according to the report, three Premier League heavyweights have their eye on Kimmich: Manchester City, Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC.

Pep Guardiola has been a big fan of the former Leipzig player since their time together in Munich and is said to see Kimmich and Rodri as a „new dream duo“. Arsenal coach Arteta, on the other hand, is said to regard Kimmich as the „missing piece of the puzzle“ in the Londoners‘ centre midfield. Liverpool FC are also apparently keen to get in on the action for the German international. There could therefore be a real bidding war between the three top clubs in the summer.
