After Michael Ballack, Joshua Kimmich also has to take criticism from Boris Becker. The tennis legend makes a harsh sporting judgement.

Boris Becker is known to be an ardent fan of FC Bayern. A reason for Sky to ask him about the situation at the record champions during a studio visit. The German tennis legend took a closer look at Joshua Kimmich.

„I think it’s a shame that we’ve heard so little about such a talented and motivated German international for six months. When I’m sent to right back as a six, I’m the first to stand in front of the camera and say what I think. It’s like that with him. In the days of the former Bayern icons, there would have been noise in the forest,“ Becker criticised Kimmich.

Michael Ballack had already criticised Kimmich on DAZN on Wednesday for selling himself badly in public at the moment.

In contrast to Ballack, Becker also criticised the Bayern professional for his sporting performances, adding: „Now I’m not enough of an expert to judge whether he’s the right man for Bayern on the right flank.“

Becker’s harsh judgement on Kimmich: „He has failed as a six-man at Bayern and in the national team. Kimmich needs to think about that and so does the club.“

Right-back in the national team in future

As far as the DFB team is concerned, national coach Julian Nagelsmann has already announced that Kimmich will play at right-back in future.

Thomas Tuchel also recently had the 29-year-old play on the right side of the back four. In the past, Kimmich has never made a secret of the fact that the role of the six-man is his favourite position.

Whether Kimmich has a future there at Bayern is written in the stars. The 19-year-old Aleksandar Pavlovic seems to be outranking him in this position.

The question of the position will be one of the topics that Max Eberl will discuss with Kimmich in the course of a possible contract extension. The international’s contract expires in the summer of 2025. FC Barcelona and Manchester City are among those rumoured to be interested.
