Thomas Tuchel is running out of advocates. A former Bayern boss had long supported the FC Bayern coach, but now he is also turning his back on him.

In recent months, Michael Reschke has defended Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel several times in his public statements. But now the former technical director of FC Bayern is also criticising Tuchel.

In the BR programme „Blickpunkt Sport“, Reschke said of Tuchel: „He’s an outstanding coach, but at the moment I’m a little surprised by Thomas‘ approach.“

Tuchel should actually be „in the team’s boat“, but instead he keeps attacking his players publicly. „That surprises me,“ said Reschke. In Reschke’s opinion, „the whole mood in the team is not right“.

Reschke on Tuchel: „…then that’s questionable“

In the Tuchel era, the club lacks the unity of the past: „In recent years, they have simply had a much clearer structure from within and also directly around the team. That’s missing at the moment,“ said Reschke, who was technical director at the German record champions from 2014 to 2017.

Tuchel will have to take his hat off at FCB after the end of the season. If Bayern are knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday evening against Lazio Roma, it is questionable whether Tuchel will have to leave earlier.

Reschke commented on this possibility: „If you are convinced that he can still reach the team, still provide impetus and still has heart and passion, then he should continue,“ explained Reschke. If not, a line will have to be drawn.

Although the „quality of Thomas Tuchel as a coach is absolutely outstanding“, „if you leave the impression that the chemistry is no longer right, then that is questionable,“ said the 66-year-old.
