FC Bayern will face Manchester City in the quarter-final second leg of the Champions League tonight (9pm, DAZN). The record champions face a tough challenge and have to make up at least a 0:3. Jamal Musiala is nevertheless eagerly awaiting the match.

The first leg in Manchester was also more than unfortunate for Jamal Musiala himself. First, the Bayern youngster had a chance to take the lead when ManCity defender Ruben Dias threw himself into his shot. Only a few seconds later, Musiala made a mistake in defence when Rodri simply slipped past him and sank the ball into Yann Sommer’s box with a long-range shot to make it 1-0. In the end it was 3-0 for City. For the FCB, advancing in the CL has become a distant prospect.

Musiala told „Sport Bild“ that he and his teammates are nevertheless optimistic about a possible comeback against City: „We all believe that we can turn this match around. The first leg in Manchester showed us that“.

The 20-year-old feels that, despite conceding three goals, Munich had already put in a good performance in Manchester. „The way we did it against City was good. We played with a lot of confidence and self-assurance. We had our chances to score, if we had been a bit more lucky there, it would have been a different game. We know: In Munich, these shots have to go in now,“ Musiala said in an interview with „Sport Bild“.

„We will give everything to reach the semi-finals“.

In his own stadium and in front of his own fans, everything is always possible anyway, added the international: „There is definitely still a chance. We are playing at home in the Allianz Arena, our fans will be there and we have 90 minutes to decide the game in our favour. We will give everything to reach the semi-finals“.

Even though there is a lot at stake in tonight’s game against Manchester City, Musiala is going into tonight’s clash with a positive attitude: „I love games like this – I see it as a challenge. You learn and grow from these games.“ But the 20-year-old is also aware: „Man City is definitely one of the best teams in the world. They have an outstanding form at the moment an absolute top level“.
