Marcel Sabitzer could join Manchester United permanently after his loan spell. The midfielder is a regular under coach Erik ten Hag and both sides are said to be interested in a long-term cooperation. Now FC Bayern have reportedly put a new price tag on the Austrian.

In Manchester United’s Europa League match against Sevilla FC (2:2), Marcel Sabitzer’s name echoed twice through the legendary Old Trafford. The Austrian shone in this match with a brace and was the only bright spot for the Red Devils in what was ultimately a rather sobering evening. The 29-year-old was voted „Man of the Match“ by the Manchester fans and the English press also singled out Sabitzer as a special player.

For weeks, reports have been doing the rounds that both the Premier League club and the Austrian himself are interested in continuing their cooperation after the current season. ManUnited does not have a purchase option, which means that the traditional English club would have to negotiate with FC Bayern again in the summer. According to „BILD“ head of football Christian Falk, the Munich club have now given Sabitzer a new price tag. According to the report, FC Bayern is seeking a transfer fee of around 20 million euros for the Austrian.

ManUnited wants to further reduce the transfer fee

The British tabloid „The Sun“, on the other hand, reports slightly higher transfer demands. They write about a fixed transfer fee of 22.5 million euros plus additional bonus payments of around five million euros. Manchester United, however, are said to be hoping that this sum can be pushed down further, partly because Bayern have signalled to them that they do not want to stand in the way of a transfer.

Sabitzer moved to Munich from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021 for a transfer fee of 15 million euros. He still has a contract with the record champions until 2025, but during his time at Bayern the midfielder could not get past Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka and was therefore loaned to Manchester United in January. With Konrad Laimer’s move to FCB looming, it is rather unlikely that Sabitzer will return to Säbener Straße to prove himself again under Thomas Tuchel.
