FC Bayern has secured the services of Joao Cancelo until the end of the season. How it goes on with the 28-year-old after that is open. The Munich have a purchase option in the amount of 70 million euros, but according to consistent media reports, this will not be pulled. As has now become known, Real Madrid is said to have great interest in the defender.

Even though Cancelo is considered an absolute dream player for Julian Nagelsmann, the Bayern bosses have recently shown great restraint in terms of a firm commitment in the summer. According to sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, they have already told the player that they are not willing to pay the purchase option of 70 million euros. However, the 46-year-old made it clear at the same time that a solution would be found if the club and the player were interested in further cooperation.

Real sets its sights on Cancelo

As „BILD“ head of football Christian Falk reports, Cancelo could have another attractive option available in the summer. Accordingly, Real Madrid has set its sights on the Portuguese and the royals seem to be getting serious. According to Falk, the Spaniards would be quite willing to pay the colported 70 million euros for the full-back.

The Bavarians, however, would only deal with a firm commitment if Manchester City would be willing to negotiate again in terms of transfer fee. In addition to the financial conditions, there are currently also sporting question marks about Cancelo. According to reports, Nagelsmann would like to play in a three-man backfield in the future, which would mean Cancelo would have to settle for a role as a track player. In other words, the 28-year-old would also have to compete with Alphonso Davies and Kingsley Coman, who have recently been the mainstays under Nagelsmann.
