Rumor: Manchester United „seriously“ interested in Choupo Moting

Following his great performances recently, Eric Maxim Choupo Moting has caught the interest of Manchester United. According to rumors, the Red Devils are seriously interested in the striker.

Even though the rumors at the beginning were not really „serious“, according to Sky Germany reporter, Florian Plettenberg, Man United have shown serious interest. They see the 33 years old as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who is really unhappy with his situation in Manchester and is rumored to leave the club in January.

According to Plettenberg, Manchester United have already inquired about the Cameroonian and are convinced that Choupo Moting can leave in winter.

The Cameroon international would be a free agent in the summer of 2023. So far there have been no talks about an extension. Nevertheless, a farewell in winter is considered very unlikely. Choupo Moting has become one of Bayern’s best players this season and has already expressed his wish of staying beyond his current contract: „I’m only concentrating on FC Bayern and the present. I’m very, very happy and could imagine staying here longer,“ he said after the 2-3 away win against Hertha BSC last weekend.

Bayern are also very interested in extending the contract, as sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told the media recently. Talks will only initiate after the FIFA World Cup.

Choupo-Moting has scored 13 goals in 14 games this season, making him one of Bayern’s top scorers.
