Do Bayern Munich need a striker or no? This debate has been continuous since the crisis that started roughly two months ago. For the architect of Bayern’s transfer window in 2022, Hasan Salihamidzic, this debate annoys him.

After Robert Lewandowski left, the board ultimately decided to play without a striker in the 2022/23 season as an experiment. Overall, this decision could likely change in the coming season, but for now, the sporting director has no plan in recruiting a new striker and wants to stick to the strategy for now.

In an interview with „Tageszeitung“, Salihamidzic hints that Bayern will not sign a new attacker for the time being: „This discussion is too erratic for me. We chose a clear strategy in the summer: within the limits of our financial possibilities and taking into account the transfer market“, said Salihamidzic.

The 45-year-old also made it clear that head coach Julian Nagelsmann was “always on board” with this decision from the start and therefore “there is no debate” at FC Bayern about this: “We have to follow through with this strategy now. We can’t change strategies every day. That’s not possible“

Nevertheless, the Bosnian kept a back door open for the coming transfer summer: „At the end of the season, we will make conclusions about how everything went, then we will proceed“

According to reports, FC Bayern already have two specific names on their list: Harry Kane and Marcus Thuram. The likes of Lautaro Martinez and Dusan Vlahovic are not considered.
