The Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui came on a free transfer from Ajax Amsterdam. However, for each player that comes to Bayern or is at Bayern, no place is guaranteed in the starting XI.

After being signed as the number one choice for the right-back position, the expectations of the Moroccan were very high right from the start. But so far the attacking right-back has not been able to convince the club.

Mazraoui was the first of five newcomers signed by the Bavarians this summer. Despite his excellent performances as an inverted fullback at Ajax that earned him a step-up in his career by joining Bayern Munich. The Moroccan has only played 44 Bundesliga minutes in three games played so far.

According to the German magazine „kicker“, the first critics can already be heard in the club, which claim that Mazraoui is lacking a lot in defensive awareness. In addition, the right-back has not impressed in training and needs to show commitment on the pitch. Right now, it’s no reason for the coaching staff to displace Benjamin Pavard.

On the other hand, the Frenchman is currently in impressive form. At the moment he is one of the best-performing players on the pitch and Julian Nagelsmann is reluctant to drop him. Pavard, who was also linked with an early departure this summer, has benefited from the increased competition in Munich so far.

The head coach made it clear recently that Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch will be given the necessary time to settle in: „Ryan and Nouz need time. This is quite normal and we will give them the necessary time. The first responsibility is mine to give them that time that they are at 100%.“

The past has however taught us that some players found their way up to becoming undisputed at Bayern, despite the difficult start. Alphonso Davies and probably Marcel Sabitzer are the best examples.
