Bayern Munich have achieved a breakthrough in contract negotiations with Manuel Neuer. The club confirmed on Monday in a press release. The team captain will therefore stay between the posts at least until 2024.

After Thomas Müller’s contract was extended, the Bayern bosses also reached an agreement with goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. In the past few days, sports director Hasan Salihamidžić have announced that they are in good feeling about an extension. Now the parties have decided to extend the contract by another year and to continue on the common path until 2024.

“Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper in the world and has been setting international standards for years. We are very happy to have extended his contract. Manuel is one of the defining figures in the history of FC Bayern,” said Oliver Kahn, pleased about the extension of the world-class keeper. The CEO shares his joy with sports director Hasan Salihamidžić.

„He’s our captain, he’s been the best goalkeeper in the world for so many years and of course one of our key players. We want to be successful in all competitions in the years to come. Manuel is our great support on and off the pitch,” he enthused. The Bosnian is certain that Neuer will play a „significant role in enabling us to achieve our goals“.

Manuel Neuer himself was also pleased to be able to hunt for the titles until at least 2024. „I’m very happy that my path at FC Bayern is continuing. We’ll have a very good team again, with whom we can play for all titles. As a goalkeeper, captain, and leading player, I want to play support and a decisive factor in our big goals,“ said the goalkeeper.
