Lucas Hernandez joined Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019 for 80 million euros and has since then integrated within the club very well. His future is also likely to be discussed in the coming months.

The Frenchman hasn’t had an easy time at Bayern. In the 2019/20 season, Hernandez was returning from a knee injury and then injured himself once again a few months later in the Champions League against Olympiakos, which kept him out of action until February. In the second season, Hernandez was struggling to receive a starting place over David Alaba.

Since the coming of Julian Nagelsmann, Hernandez has become a vital player for the defense and the German head coach always counts on the defender. Hernandez’s contract runs until 2024 and so far, no talks have yet taken place, as confirmed by the 26 years old himself.

In an interview for ‚Ouest France‘, the Frenchman seems to imply that the future is open: „I have two and a half years left on my contract at the moment,“ he replies. „I’m happy there, I’m fine.“

Hernandez does not want to speculate anything for now and reveals that no talks have taken place so far: „There are no discussions for an extension, but the coach is counting on me, the sporting director is happy with me, as the whole board.“

„We will see what will happen in the future.“
