Not too much good news for Bayern Munich this week. The club has now announced that Benjamin Pavard has tested positive for COVID-19.

The French defender has entered isolation due to coronavirus infection. According to the club’s website, Benjamin Pavard ‚is doing well‘. Following the bad news regarding Niklas Süle, who is reportedly likely to miss three to four weeks, the club is now also hit with another bad news within one day. Bayern will have to do without Pavard for the time being.

The defensive options now remain Lucas Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano, Josip Stanisic, and Tanguy Nianzou. Pavard will miss the game against Union Berlin this weekend. Like Jamal Musiala or Thomas Müller, Pavard, who is fully vaccinated should also return within a week and will most likely be ready for France for the international matches.

According to kicker and BILD, the Frenchman trained with the team today before he learned about the test results. Bayern might begin retesting the players and the staff in case there are more positive cases, though, the COVID-19 rules in Germany claim that the vaccinated people have no danger of quarantining in case they have been a contact person with a positive person. Nevertheless, everything will be known in the next few days.
