Sadio Mané has been suspended for one match by Bayern following his dressing room fight with Leroy Sane. According to Thomas Tuchel, the 31-year-old will return to the Bayern squad for the Champions League second leg against Manchester City.
According to sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, the Munich team has been working intensively on Sadio Mané’s dressing room incident over the past few days. The Senegalese was suspended for one match. According to media reports, the 31-year-old will also have to pay a mid-six-figure fine after his punch against Sane.
However, there will be no further consequences. Thomas Tuchel confirmed after yesterday’s Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim that the offensive player will be back in the team for the CL second leg against Manchester City next Wednesday: „Sadio has already shown a reaction and apologised. He will train with us tomorrow as normal and will be in the squad against Manchester City on Wednesday.“
„I don’t think anything will stick“
At the same time, the 49-year-old stressed that the „symbolic punishment“ was absolutely necessary, as there are simply rules and a code of conduct at FC Bayern. From the FCB coach’s point of view, however, the incident will not cause any „long-term damage“: „I am his lawyer and put my hand in the fire for Sadio. I have known him and his environment for years. I don’t think anything will stick. It felt like a cleansing thunderstorm,“ said Tuchel.
