Bayern Munich have been hit with a series of injuries and COVID related absences in the past two months. Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller were not fit enough to play against SC Freiburg.
After the home win against SC Freiburg, Julian Nagelsmann gave an update on Neuer and Müller: „Both can’t be ruled out, but I am not planning with them in my head right now. We’re checking up on them every day“, said Nagelsmann.
With Neuer, there are many indications that the 36-year-old will have to take another break in the DFB Cup: „I don’t want him to take painkillers all the time and then have to play because otherwise, it will only get worse. We still have a lot planned for Manu – this year and next,“
The captain has been struggling with shoulder problems for more than a week.
Thomas Müller, on the other hand, could return to the pitch against Augsburg in the DFB Cup. The 33-year-old himself is hoping for at least a comeback. On Monday, Muller was spotted training with the team.
