Harry Kane’s contract extension with FC Bayern is getting closer. However, there are still discussions to be had regarding the contract term and a possible buyout clause.
At FC Bayern, everything continues to point toward a contract extension with Harry Kane. After Sky recently reported on a fundamental breakthrough and a planned new contract through 2029, BILD is now providing further details from the ongoing talks.
According to the report, a contract running through 2029 is indeed the current basic idea on both sides. However, the contract duration has apparently not yet been finalized. A contract extending through 2030 is reportedly still on the table.
Christian Falk explained on the BILD podcast “Bayern Insider”: “It’s an interesting situation: A contract through 2029 is the idea on both sides. Both know that’s the minimum they have to offer Harry Kane. But there’s also the option of a three-year extension. 2030 isn’t off the table.”
The buyout clause apparently depends on the contract term
Another important question is apparently tied to the contract duration: Should Kane receive an exit clause again?
“Kane’s side could also envision a buyout clause—they had one in the last contract, after all. But with a two-year contract, that doesn’t really make sense. Bayern would say: ‘Then we’ll be negotiating again next year.’ They’d be reluctant to do that, simply to keep things calm,” Falk explained.
With a contract running through 2030, however, such a clause could make more sense again. “That’s what these details are all about,” Falk clarified.
According to the report, however, there’s hardly any doubt left about the extension itself. “I’ve heard from both sides that a breakthrough could happen at any time. They’ve agreed on the major terms; it’s just a matter of details now. Harry Kane will extend his contract,” said the BILD soccer editor-in-chief.

var d=e.data||{};
if(d.type===’FOOTY_WIDGET_HEIGHT’&&typeof d.height===’number‘){iframe.style.height=d.height+’px‘;}
});
})();
Bayern reporter Heiko Niedderer is also confident an agreement will be reached: “We’re certain of it. It could happen at any time, but it could also take a few more weeks. We recently spoke with Kane about the matter, and he said: ‘Guys, you can sit back and relax—it’s going to happen, but there are still a few things to sort out.’ Sometimes you have to negotiate the finer details a little longer. But everyone is relaxed, and he’s relaxed too.”
Kane himself had already stated at the end of August: “It’s looking pretty good!” At the same time, the 33-year-old made it clear that many factors would have to be taken into account with a contract like this.
According to information from BILD, talks continued even during the international break. It seems the question is less whether the deal will happen and more about the exact terms: a contract through 2029 or even 2030—and possibly with an exit clause again.
