Vincent Kompany has earned an excellent reputation at FC Bayern. The Belgian’s work is well-received not only within the team and by club officials, but also by numerous former Bayern stars, who are impressed by the team’s progress under the 40-year-old.
Now Franck Ribéry has also spoken out. The Bayern legend continues to follow his former club closely and is impressed by Kompany’s work in Munich.
“I really like Kompany. He’s doing an incredible job at FC Bayern Munich, and you can tell that the whole team appreciates him,” Ribéry explained in an interview with *kicker*.
Ribéry highlights the relationship between Kompany and the team
For Ribéry, it’s not just about the results or Munich’s style of play. What’s particularly important to the Frenchman is that Kompany clearly has a good rapport with his players.
“That’s crucial to me because it shows that things are going well within the team and in the environment surrounding it. That’s important,” emphasized the former Bayern pro.
Ribéry, in particular, knows from his own time in Munich just how important the relationship between the coach and the team is at the German record champions. Between 2007 and 2019, the Frenchman played for FCB and experienced numerous different coaches and leadership styles.
From the 43-year-old’s perspective, Kompany seems to have succeeded in combining sporting success with a well-functioning team dynamic.
Kompany has established himself at Bayern
When Kompany arrived in Munich, his signing was initially met with some skepticism. In the meantime, the former Manchester City captain has firmly established himself at the record-breaking champions.
Bayern’s management has also long made it clear that they are planning for the long term with their coach. Kompany’s contract was extended early through 2029.
The Belgian impresses not only with his attacking and intense style of play. His rapport with the players is also repeatedly highlighted positively within the club.
It is precisely this aspect that now impresses Ribéry as well. For the Bayern legend, the visible respect that Kompany enjoys within his team is a decisive factor in their success.
