At FC Bayern, it’s not out of the question that there could be some activity on the transfer market as early as this winter. If a lucrative opportunity arises, Bayern is ready to act. One player in particular seems to have piqued their interest.
On the offensive end, the record champions are at least considering signing a backup for Luis Diaz. And it’s considered realistic that the defense could also undergo some changes. Araujo is a concrete candidate for FC Bayern
According to information from BILD, FC Bayern has Tomas Araujo of SL Benfica in Portugal on their list. On the “Bayern Insider” podcast, Christian Falk has now reported that there is definitely interest on the part of the record champions.
However, he also pointed to the latest reports coming out of Italy and expressed skepticism—at least regarding the newsworthiness of these reports. Regarding the interest, he said: “That’s true, but it’s not a hot topic right now. And I’m surprised that the reports are coming from Italy. After all, he plays for Benfica.”
The player, who would cost around 30 million euros, would be financially feasible for Bayern in principle and could fill the role of backup. But only if a player leaves the club, thereby creating space on the roster. There’s no absolute urgency at the moment anyway.
In any case, Bayern is quite familiar with the Portuguese player; he’s been scouted several times, including very intensively this past summer. It seems possible that he’s a candidate for the future, but there will certainly be other clubs interested in him as well. In any case, the way things work in Munich is that they keep a close eye on several players at once for a potential position in need of reinforcement.
