Jamal Musiala is back—and is expected to return to full athletic activity as soon as possible. The Bayern star is therefore spending the entire current international break with the German national team. Now, Jürgen Klopp has commented on the 23-year-old’s condition.
Musiala struggled with health issues during preseason. After two incidents, he was diagnosed with so-called “absences” resulting from a neurological dysfunction. His medication was subsequently adjusted. Recently, there has been positive news: The adjustment appears to be having the desired effect.
Musiala has also made great strides on the field recently. In the 7-0 win over Union Berlin, he played the full 90 minutes for the first time this season, scored the 1-0 goal, and set up another.
Klopp: “Everything’s taken care of, everything’s done.”
Ahead of Thursday night’s Nations League match against the Netherlands, Klopp was asked about Musiala’s health situation. The national team coach made it clear that the issue is not expected to play a significant role in the DFB’s day-to-day operations at this time.
“I’m not thinking about it at all. We have all the doctors here with us. There’s no reason to talk to Jamal about it. Everything’s taken care of, everything’s done. What we need now is normalcy. What the kid needs is normalcy. And we have that—he’s training just like normal; we didn’t even have to worry about it,” Klopp explained.
Musiala will continue to receive medical care from the DFB. At the same time, the offensive player is to be treated just like his teammates during training sessions. That’s exactly what Musiala had been hoping for recently at FC Bayern as well.
“He’s training well; he’s training with great enthusiasm.”

Klopp also expressed satisfaction with Musiala’s performance on the training field. The 59-year-old currently sees nothing out of the ordinary with the Bayern star.
“He’s training well; he’s training with great enthusiasm—which makes sense, since he’s been out for a while. And, yes. Everything—including his situation—is actually just as it should be right now.”
Musiala plays a special role in Klopp’s unusual plan for the four Nations League matches. While the expanded squad will be partially replaced after the first two matches, the Munich native—like Serge Gnabry—is set to remain with the DFB for the entire duration.
The main reason behind this is the desire to allow Musiala to maintain his training and match rhythm. At FC Bayern, regular team training would be limited anyway during the international break due to the numerous players called up.
For Musiala, this means a gradual return to his normal soccer routine. Klopp’s comments ahead of the match against the Netherlands provide the next positive sign: The national team coach currently sees no reason for special treatment—but rather, above all, a player who is once again taking the field with great joy.
