While FC Bayern has already finalized its transfer plans for the summer, it appears that the club in Munich is already preparing for the winter transfer window. According to reports, they have set their sights on a specific player.
FC Bayern continues to keep an eye on the international talent market. According to recent reports, the Munich club has set its sights on Gilberto Mora. The 17-year-old Mexican recently made a name for himself at the World Cup and is already being courted by several top European clubs.
According to information from the Mexican sports newspaper Récord, FC Bayern is among the clubs taking a close interest in Gilberto Mora of Club Tijuana. The attacking midfielder is considered one of his country’s greatest talents.
His performances at the World Cup have significantly raised Mora’s profile once again. At the same time, his market value is said to have risen sharply. It is now estimated at around 25 million euros.
However, the Munich club is by no means the only prominent suitor. Real Madrid, Chelsea FC, and Manchester United are also said to be closely monitoring the youngster’s development.
Bayern will have to be patient with Mora for now
A move to Munich anytime soon, however, is not possible. Mora will not reach the age of majority until October 14, 2026. Due to FIFA regulations governing international transfers of underage players, a move to Europe would therefore be possible no earlier than the upcoming winter transfer window.
Nevertheless, the interested clubs apparently want to lay the groundwork beforehand. According to Récord, the strategy is to reach an agreement with the player or his representatives regarding a future transfer, ideally before Mora’s 18th birthday.
Especially given the formidable competition, an early move could prove decisive. After all, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Manchester United, several clubs are showing interest in the Mexican player—all of which are also known for scouting top international talent well in advance.
Mora is already a member of the Mexican national team
Despite his young age, Mora already has remarkable experience in professional soccer. Playing for Tijuana, the attacking midfielder appeared in a total of 44 matches in the Liga MX Apertura and Clausura during the 2025–26 season, scoring six goals.
Mora has also long since established himself on the Mexican national team. The 17-year-old has already made 11 international appearances and drew international attention—if not before, then certainly through his performances at the World Cup.
At Club Tijuana, the top prospect still has a long-term contract running through June 2029. Mora is therefore unlikely to be a bargain for Bayern—especially since his strong World Cup performances have driven his price even higher.
The fact that Munich is showing interest in Mora aligns with its current transfer strategy. The record champion is increasingly investing in young players with great potential for development. However, a real bidding war with Europe’s heavyweights looms for the Mexican rising star.
