Bryan Zaragoza is expected to leave FC Bayern for good this summer. After a move to Saudi Arabia was recently in the works, another option is now emerging for the Spaniard. Espanyol Barcelona is reportedly showing concrete interest.
Bryan Zaragoza’s future at FC Bayern remains uncertain. Although the attacking player is under contract with the German record champions through 2029, he apparently has no real prospects under Vincent Kompany. After several loan spells, a permanent departure could now be on the horizon.
According to information from the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Espanyol is actively pursuing the 24-year-old. The main question at the center of the discussions appears to be: How can the Catalan club afford Zaragoza’s salary?
Salary could be the sticking point
Zaragoza is reportedly earning between 3.5 and 5.5 million euros gross per year at FC Bayern. For Espanyol, this amount represents a significant financial challenge.
Accordingly, the club is reportedly working to find a solution to the salary issue. If they succeed, the transfer could move forward.
Zaragoza moved from FC Granada to Munich in the winter of 2024 for a transfer fee of between 17 and 19 million euros. Expectations were high for the dribbling-proficient attacking player, but he was never able to establish himself on a consistent basis with the record champions. After the 24-year-old was loaned out three times in recent seasons, he is now set to leave the club for good.
Saudi Arabia as another option
Just a few days ago, Zaragoza was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia. According toMundo Deportivo, the Spaniard has received “financially attractive” offers from the Saudi Pro League.
For FC Bayern, such a transfer would be particularly interesting from a financial standpoint; Zaragoza himself, however, is said to still prefer a return to Spain.
While the German record champions are pushing for a quick sale, Zaragoza feels no pressure to decide quickly. Following his loan spell at AS Roma, the winger wants to take enough time to choose the right next step for his career.
