Michael Olise and Luis Díaz are currently among the most sought-after attacking players in Europe. Consequently, rumors about possible transfers have persisted in recent weeks. However, Uli Hoeneß has now put an end to these speculations with clear words.
On the sidelines of FC Bayern’s friendly match against FC Rottach-Egern, the honorary president of the record-holding champions spoke about the future of his attacking stars—leaving no room for interpretation.
Michael Olise, in particular, had recently been repeatedly linked with a move to Real Madrid. For Hoeneß, however, these speculations are completely unrealistic.
Hoeneß scoffs at Olise rumors
“There’s absolutely no cause for concern! I laughed my head off,” the 74-year-old explained, referring to reports of alleged interest from Los Blancos.
Hoeneß then pointed out that the French international’s contract runs through 2029. “I checked how long his contract is: three more years. That’s not an issue for me at all. The Emperor of China could come here right now, and we still wouldn’t talk to him,” the Bayern boss made clear.
With these statements, Hoeneß made it clear that selling the 24-year-old is currently out of the question for the Munich club.
His response to the question about Luis Díaz’s future was just as unequivocal. The Colombian international had also recently been linked with a departure from Munich.
“Why should we? We’d have to be crazy!” said Hoeneß, explaining his point of view in detail: “You spend 60 or 70 million, maybe get 120 in return, and then you’re chasing after other players who you don’t know how they’ll fit in with us.”
In the honorary president’s view, FC Bayern currently boasts one of the strongest attacking trios in international soccer. “We’re in the fortunate position of having the best trio in the world in Díaz, Kane, and Olise. And the new player from Morocco will certainly join them as well,” said Hoeneß, referring to summer signing Ismael Saibari.
In closing, the longtime Bayern boss reiterated his stance: “We’d have to be out of our minds if we’d even consider selling any of them.”
With this public declaration, Hoeneß is likely to take the wind out of the sails of the ongoing speculation surrounding Olise and Díaz—at least for now. For the record-breaking champions’ management, both attacking players—along with Harry Kane—form the heart of Vincent Kompany’s team—and are set to remain the face of Bayern’s offense in the future as well.
