Real Madrid isn’t giving up on signing Michael Olise—despite Bayern Munich’s clear rejections. At the same time, the Royals have apparently been working on an alternative for some time now, one that’s gaining traction with the World Cup approaching.
In Munich, the stance is clear: FC Bayern has categorically ruled out selling its attacking player on multiple occasions this summer. In Madrid, however, they are not ready to close the Olise file just yet. As reported by Spanish Real insider Ramón Álvarez de Mon, those in charge around President Florentino Pérez continue to hope that the German record champions can still be persuaded to change their minds.
According to the report, the deal is by no means off the table—even though Real Madrid itself knows that its chances are vanishingly slim. Nevertheless, the journalist emphasizes that a question mark still hangs over the transfer.
In the event that the Olise deal falls through, the Royals have long since made contingency plans. “If Olise can’t join Real Madrid, Florentino wants to sign a star player from the World Cup,” Álvarez de Mon explained. Real aims to make “a big splash” in the transfer market.
Real “wants to amaze the soccer world”
Pérez is focused on making a big splash again: “The club wants to amaze the soccer world once more with a deal. That’s Florentino’s goal. And we don’t have to look far back to find transfers of this kind. Mbappé and Bellingham are the best examples,” said the insider.

Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig/Ivory Coast) and Ayyoub Bouaddi (OSC Lille/Morocco) are reportedly on the list of alternatives. The duo doesn’t quite fit the Madrid club’s “Galactic” image yet—but that could change if they put in strong performances in the upcoming World Cup matches.
The World Cup plays a central role in Real’s calculations. “The World Cup is important when it comes to signings. Real Madrid is taking a low-key approach right now and keeping an eye on things. Even without negotiations, the club knows exactly how much pull it has,” said Álvarez de Mon. For FC Bayern, the message remains that Madrid’s interest in Olise apparently hasn’t faded yet, despite all the rejections.
