FC Bayern has officially announced its next summer departure from its women’s team. Ana María Guzmán is leaving Munich for good and joining Palmeiras São Paulo on a permanent basis—a club the Colombian already knows very well.
For the 21-year-old defender, this marks the end of a chapter at Säbener Straße that never quite took off. As the German record champions confirmed, the Colombian national team player is signing a permanent contract with the Brazilian first-division club.
This isn’t a new connection: Guzmán already played for Palmeiras on loan last season. In Brazil, she apparently found the playing time and trust that had eluded her at FC Bayern. The club has now secured her services permanently.
Guzmán moved to Munich in 2023 but was never able to establish herself there. Above all, a serious knee injury she sustained while playing for the Colombian national team sidelined the defender for an extended period.
After her return in September 2024, she made only eight appearances for Bayern’s first and second women’s teams—too few to earn a starting spot. In early 2025, the club therefore decided to send her on loan to the U.S., where Guzmán played five matches for the NWSL club Utah Royals FC.
Move to Brazil as a fresh start
This stint also ended prematurely. The loan, originally planned to run until the end of 2025, was cut short to pave the way for a move to Brazil. There, she initially played on loan—but that has since turned into a permanent contract.

For FC Bayern, this brings to a close a chapter that never really took off. Injuries and a lack of playing time prevented her from developing sustainably in Munich.
For Bayern’s women’s team, it also marks the latest departure this summer.
