The future of Michael Olise continues to spark debate. According to a report, the Bayern star is said to have so far turned down an initial offer to extend his contract.
Michael Olise is one of FC Bayern’s most important players and is at the top of the club’s internal list when it comes to the team’s long-term future. This makes the current uncertainty surrounding the French national team player seem all the more significant.
As reported by *kicker*, the record champions are said to have made a tentative inquiry to Olise as early as the beginning of 2026 regarding an early contract extension. According to the report, however, the Munich club did not receive a concrete commitment or clear stance from the attacking player.
Olise is still under a long-term contract through 2029. Nevertheless, Bayern apparently wants to extend their partnership early and secure the 24-year-old’s long-term commitment to the club.
According to the report, these plans are still on the table. However, there has reportedly been no clear response from the player so far.
Internally, Olise is therefore described as “very hard to pin down and impossible to figure out.”
Instagram post causes surprise
The Frenchman’s recent behavior on social media has fueled further speculation.
Olise had removed all photos of himself wearing the FC Bayern jersey from his Instagram profile. While it’s unclear whether this has any sporting significance at all, the move reportedly caused “surprise” at Säbener Straße, according to kicker.
At the same time, rumors of potential interest from Real Madrid persist.
The club was even prompted to issue an official statement recently. In it, the top Spanish club emphasized that there had been “absolutely no contact—neither direct nor indirect”—with Olise, his advisors, or those close to him.
Real also highlighted its good relations with FC Bayern and spoke of “excellent relations” between the two clubs.
Is a high-stakes game of poker looming?
Nevertheless, the situation remains highly intriguing. After all, Real Madrid has been repeatedly linked to the French player in recent weeks.
According to *kicker*, the matter could even become a top priority if the Madrid club were indeed to prepare an offer exceeding the 200-million-euro mark.
In that case, Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez and Coach José Mourinho could be brought into the talks. At FC Bayern, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß—two of the club’s most influential figures—would play a central role.
Currently, however, there is neither an offer nor any concrete negotiations. Bayern continues to stick to its plan to secure Olise on a long-term contract and make him one of the club’s top earners in the future.
One thing is certain, though: as long as the Frenchman has not made his position clear regarding a contract extension, the issue is likely to continue to occupy the minds of those in charge in Munich.
